A new market can look exciting from a distance. Before you commit people and budget, it helps to slow down and work through a few honest questions.

1. Is there real demand?

Look for evidence that customers have the problem you solve and are already spending time or money on it. Interest is not the same as intent.

2. How will you be different?

Understand who already serves this market and why customers choose them. Your difference should matter to buyers, not only to your team.

3. Do you have the resources?

Be realistic about the people, capital, and attention a new market will need. Expansion often takes longer than the first plan suggests.

4. What could go wrong?

List the main risks and decide in advance what signals would tell you to pause, adjust, or stop.

5. How will you know it is working?

Agree on a few early indicators and a review date before you start. That keeps the decision grounded in evidence as you learn.
